Women’s Entrepreneur Conference

The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship, Commission on the Status of Women, and Greensboro Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce that we will host the Women’s Entrepreneur Conference Saturday, September 13, 2008, at the Elliott University Center on the University of North Carolina at Greensboro campus. The theme for the conference is “Equipping Women Entrepreneurs to Thrive in the 21st Century”. The Women’s Entrepreneur Conference will enable you to attend up to four educational workshops and develop your business skills in a variety of areas.
In addition, there will be four interactive workshops for 30 high school girls entitled, Young Divas Making Millions. The girls will participate in workshops on product development, business planning, and marketing.
Below is a list of all the exciting workshops offered at the conference. Adults will be able to select four different workshops to attend.
Adult Workshops – Cost $25
Morning Sessions:
· How to Write a Winning Business Plan
· Steps and Costs for Starting a Nonprofit Organization
· Becoming Certified with the M/WBE and State Government
· Avoiding Federal Tax Mistakes
· How Women Become More Effective Leaders
Participants will select two workshops in the morning and two in the afternoon.
Lunch will be provided at no additional cost.
Afternoon Sessions:
· Marketing My Business to Large Corporations
· Strategies for Creating an Effective Website
· How to Qualify for a SBA Loan
· Preparing to Meet an Angel Investor
· The Power of Effective Networking
Young Divas Making Millions – Cost $15
(High school girls – ages 14 to 18)
There will also be a full day of entrepreneurial workshops for 30 high school girls.
Morning Sessions
· Common Commodities
During this hands-on product development workshop the high school girls will be divided into groups of ten and learn how to make one of the following products.

2. High fashion jewelry |
3. Handbags using denim jeans |
· Show Me the Money!
This session engages participants on various ways to finance their business, whether through traditional channels or the many options of creative financing.
Afternoon Sessions
Here, there, and everywhere. Where is your product made? How do you get it packaged and to your customer? Operations and distribution are sometimes more critical than financing in the business process.
Who is my customer and how do I reach them? Identify the market niche for your product or service. Brainstorm the myriad of marketing choices and how to keep your product on their mind.
